Course description

Today's world revolves around the use of digital technologies and requires people with a mix of computing, technical, creative, and people skills. This course covers a wide range of topics, including hardware and systems, data security, applications development and coding with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Python. In this course you will undertake a wide range of different computing units to develop a skill base to provide opportunities to progress to higher levels of study or into employment. Borders College are committed to providing candidates with a wide skill base in further education to enable them to specialise if the choose to progress their studies in the region. This course at SCQF Level 6, will afford the opportunity for candidates to achieve this.

Course content:

Upon successful completion, candidates will achieve the following awards;

  • NC Computing at SCQF Level 6 including;
  • NPA Software Development SCQF Level 6
  • NPA in Cyber Security at SCQF Level 6

Some of the units included cover topics such as Ethical Hacking, Authorising a Website and Computer Hardware and Systems

Learning outcome

On successful completion of the course, students may progress to some of the pathways outlined below. Entry requirements

Applicantsshould have 3 relevant National 5 qualifications, 5 relevant Standard Gradesor be progressing from a similar college course at SCQF Level 5. Previous experience with Programming, Computer Systems, and/or Networking is not essential but would be advantageous.
