Course description
This course aims to help you develop the knowledge, skills and experience that will help prepare you for applying for entry to the Police Service as a Police Officer or Special Constable. &You will learn about the structure of the Police Service and Scottish Judicial System. You will also develop an understanding of the challenges facing officers today. You will study a range of subjects aimed at developing the skills required for successful progression to the police, such as Criminology, Social Issues, Communication, ICT, and more. You will also have the opportunity to work on the transferable skills police applicants require including health and fitness, communication skills, exam preparation and community engagement activity.
Learning outcome
On successful completion of the course you may wish to apply to Police Scotland or continue to study on HNC programme such as Social Science.
Entry requirements
Four relevant National 5s or a pass in a relevant NC course at SCQF Level 5. Applicants without any formal qualifications, but with life experience and a demonstrable interest will also be considered for entry. A place on the course is also subject to an interview if required. Applicants would be required to become a member of the PVG scheme.
