Course description

People must understand what safeguarding is, where it applies to them, and what they should do if they ever suspect that abuse is taking place. Effective strategies allow at-risk children, teenagers, and adults to live without experiencing abuse, harm, or neglect. Each organisation, small group, and person should be conscious of their obligations to the workplace and society. This course will teach you how to go about safeguarding successfully.

Measures used to protect a person's health, happiness, and human rights are known as safeguarding. This course explains the methods and approaches to ensure that people in your care are safe. It starts with an overview of the systems and procedures relating to adult safeguarding. You will learn the importance of groups championing dignity in care, such as the Adult Social Care Outcomes Framework (ASCOF), Francis Report, CQC regulations and The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006).

The course illustrates the many types of abuse and neglect and how to respond to them. Providing appropriate support for individuals, team members, employees, volunteers, and those in care and support services is outlined. The following section teaches you about whistleblowing, the need for an ideal policy, and the Public Interest Disclosure Act (PIDA). Next, you will learn about policies and procedures relating to safeguarding a child or young person. The course addresses the principles, guidance, and legislation to safeguard vulnerable adults and provides examples of good and poor practices.

If a person is legally considered a danger to themselves or others as per the UK's Mental Health Act, it is necessary to consider restrictive practice and intervention. You will understand the different types and use of restraint and Deprivation of Liberty. The final section researches individual vulnerability and online safety measures. Enrol now for a comprehensive overview of safeguarding, the various forms of abuse and neglect, and some key terms used in safeguarding.
