Course description

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder or ADHD is a chronic mental disorder characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. This course examines the history and etiology of ADHD. We explain its sub-types and the secondary problems found in ADHD children. The course material also answers complex questions like: "What is the combined subtype?" or "What is the nonpharmacologic treatment used for children?". Registration is free.

Inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity are the three primary symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, which is a chronic mental disorder. We begin this course by studying definitions and concepts related to the history of ADHD and its sub-types. We also describe the secondary problems found in ADHD children and outline the benefits of treatment. We will help you answer questions like, "What are some symptoms of ADHD?" and "What is a nonpharmacologic treatment for ADHD?".

We explore the symptoms and diagnosis of ADHD, including deficiencies in participation level. We then describe how parents’ level of knowledge of ADHD in their children can affect treatment, including the relationship between family functionality and ADHD. Common eating disorders (ED) in ADHD children are discussed. Finally, this course answers further questions like, "What are some symptoms of ADHD?" or "What psychological support do you need to treat or cope with ADHD?".
