Course description

Our NQ Engineering Skills is ideal for students starting out in engineering as it provides practical hands-on training in workshop skills including sheet metal work, fitting and various welding techniques.  The course is also suitable as a refresher course for updating your engineering skills.You will learn a number of practical skills including: Bench fitting Sheet metal work Manual Metal Arc welding MIG Welding TIG WeldingAnd you will learn how to work effectively and safely.  In addition to the practical skills, you will develop you will also enhance your employability through the enhancement of your communication, numeracy and information technology abilities.

Learning outcome

Following a successful completion of the NQ you can progress to the NQ Engineering Practice Level 5 or SVQ Performing Engineering Operations Level 2.There is currently a shortage of engineers with practical skills and this course will give you the basic skills to progress into a range of engineering disciplines including the oil and gas sector, both on-shore and off-shore renewables and general manufacturing.
