Course description
This exciting and newly revised course provides a great opportunity to gain knowledge and skills for a career in nursing, allied professions, social services or social work. With units on topics such as Mental Health, Counselling and Criminology this level 6 qualification provides progression to our HNC programmes including HNC Socials Services, HNC Health Care Practice and HNC Social Science.This is a Category 1 PVG course. During the course you will have contact with vulnerable groups of people, therefore to successfully complete the course, you are required to be a member of the PVG Scheme. Subjects studied include Human Development, Mental Health, Counselling, Criminology along with IT, numeracy and communications where two SVQ units will be studied.
Learning outcome
This level 6 qualification provides progression to our HNC programmes including HNC Socials Services, HNC Health Care Practice and HNC Social Science.
Entry requirements
Seven qualifications with at least 5 National 5 or successful completion of Level 5 Health and Social Care. If you don't meet our entry requirements, your previous experience and credentials may still qualify you for this course. Please arrange an appointment with a member of college staff to discuss your eligibility. Your application and interview will form part of the selection process. All applicants will be required to successfully pass a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check.
