Course description

This full-time course is aimed at students with moderate learning difficulties, where you will continue to develop confidence by working together and problem-solving as a team.  This course offers students a broad range of subjects to develop essential skills and practical abilities, as well as social skills.   You will learn independent living skills such as food preparation techniques, discover more about the environment with the John Muir Award and develop your creative skills.Classes are small to accommodate students and their support workers/carers. A classroom assistant is present in each session to support the learning needs of the students. Skillsbuilder 3 is a one-year programme, which encourages students to self-reflect and identify areas they want to improve upon. Teaching is student led so you have a say in what you learn.Students are encouraged to participate in activities outwith the classroom, such as The John Muir Award, and develop a small business opportunity as part of the enterprise unit.The many and varied units on this course include: Self awareness Digital communication methods Developing essential skills Design activity Local investigations Food preparation techniques
