Course description

This course is aimed at students who may be considering a career in Child Care or Education. The course will provide you with an insight into working in Early Learning and Child Care settings. You will develop your knowledge of the sector; gain a range of practical skills and grounding in child development. This will prepare you to work in a variety of settings or for further study.

On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded SQA accreditation at National 4 level.

Entry requirements

This Skills for Work course is open to Secondary 3 and 4 pupils.

All applicants will be interviewed.

Progression

Academic and Career: You can progress on to either our full-time National Certificate (NC) Level 5 Child, Health and Social Care or full-time NC in Early Education and Childcare courses, or SVQ training, a modern apprenticeship or employment.

You could also progress to the Foundation Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care (for S5/6 pupils).
