Course description
In this HNC Electrical Engineering course, you'll complete a variety of units such as:
- Electrical machine principles
- Applications of programmable logic controllers*
- DC and AC principles
- Application of electrical and electronic instruments
- Three phase systems
- Electricity power systems
- Electrical safety
- Electrical networks and resonance*
- Engineering mathematics 1
- Communication
- Energy Overview
- Electrical Engineering Graded Unit 1 examination
* These units are not taught at Anniesland Campus.
Entry requirements
- Minimum of one Higher, or equivalent, from English, Mathematics or Physics. Please note: Higher Applications of Maths is not the equivalent of Higher Mathematics; OR
- NC Electrical Engineering (Level 6); OR
- We will consider your application if you have relevant experience but no formal qualifications
- If English is not your first language, then a level 6 ESOL qualification would be required, due to the technical demands of the subject.
- Those applying for the Day Release / Evening course should be employed in a relevant industrial role.
