Course overview
The Engineering Systems (Energy and Environmental Engineering) HNC is a full-time course taught over one year at Edinburgh College’s Midlothian Campus.
The course is designed to ensure you meet the industry's diverse needs. This HNC will equip you with practical skills in advanced mechanical and electrical engineering systems, including the use of simulation and design software. You will study several technical subjects, including Practical Workshop Skills, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Systems, Computer-aided Design and Materials Selection.
The subjects will be taught at a high level, allowing you to develop transferable skills essential for your future engineering career.

Course description
What you will learn
The subjects that you will study are as follows:
Entry requirements
- Higher Mathematics at grade 'C' or above, and preferably Higher Physics or another science/technology related subject at grade 'C' or above.
- NC level 6 in an engineering-related discipline or an equivalent qualification.
- If you haven't studied Mathematics for some time, then you might benefit from taking a preparatory unit before joining the course.
Progression
- Articulation to year one or year 2 of a university degree in mechanical, electrical, renewable or structural engineering may also be possible.
- Please note: it is not possible to progress into Year 2 of the HND course from this HNC.
