This course explains different clauses and their various requirements for the organizations that develop, design, or supply parts, components, and assemblies concerned with the aerospace and defense industries. After enrolling, the students will be able to navigate the differences between the different versions of the AS standards. Moreover, they will also get a simple and straightforward explanation of this standard's requirements.
Course description
The need to have a robust standard for the aviation industry has been present globally for quite a long time. After multiple attempts at regularizing this industry, As of now, AS9100D is serving as the major standard for the organizations that plan, develop, or supply the parts, components, and assemblies to the aerospace and defense industries. This course is an attempt to explore this standard in detail and get an understanding of its major requirements.
Divided into two modules, the course first helps the students navigate through different versions of AS standards that have been published to this date. Then, it begins explaining the clauses of this standard. Only the major clauses, i.e., Clauses 4 to 10, have been made a part of this course. This being said students would get an explanation of these clauses sequentially. In the first module, clauses 4, 5, 6, and 7 have been explained. In contrast, the second module explains clauses 8, 9, and 10.
To introduce variety in the course’s content, the developers have used different tabs, accordions, and bullet points. Students would also find pictorial explanations of various causes as well. At the end of each module, a list of assessment questions has been given to help students revise the main points from the topic. All in all, this course would be helpful for anyone willing to go into the aviation industry and want to gain knowledge regarding the regularization and standardization of this industry.
