Industrial Cadets Challenger Experience with Seagreen & SSE (Secondary)

Target audience - Secondary S1 to S3 (11-14 year old)

Engage with us on a virtual, free STEM activity, sponsored by SSE, via their Seagreen Wind Farm project.

The Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm is SSE’s £3 billion project which will deliver low carbon energy for 1.3 million homes.  SSE are committed to supporting the communities who live near the development and have a local community benefit programme which enables support for positive and transformational local projects.  SSE have engaged EDT to deliver STEM activities to schools in Dundee and Angus.

The theme is renewable energy, tailored for S1-S3. Pupils will gain an Industrial Cadet Challenger certificate on completion, and the activities are aligned to CfE, supporting pupils’ in class learning.  Industrial Cadets is a new industry standard which allows young people aged 9-21 to participate in an accredited experience, helping them to develop skills, gain an insight into industry and become better informed about careers available.

STEM Transition Project with Seagreen & SSE

Target audience - Primary School Pupil, Secondary S1 to S3 (11-14 year old)

EDT have a FREE opportunity for P6/7s within a learning community to complete a transition project with their secondary school in partnership with SSE and the Seagreen Wind Farm.

We are offering P6/7s from the primary schools in a cluster the chance to take part in our ‘FunSTEM – Renewable Energy’ project. The flyer below explains what is involved in the programme, and the cross-curricular links the programme supports.

The project can be used as part of your school’s transition programme. We can incorporate a virtual tour of the secondary school and peer mentoring where secondary pupils help the primary pupils with their ideas. We are open to incorporating other transition ideas too.

The programme will be ready for delivery starting anytime following the Easter break. It is delivered by the primary school teachers using our online platform which includes recorded instructional videos and tasks to work through.

Industrial Cadets Silver Project with Seagreen & SSE

Target audience - Secondary S4 to S6 (14-18 year old)

EDT have a FREE opportunity for pupils in S5 to S6 to take part in our STEM Horizons project which is accredited at Industrial Cadets Silver level. The project is sponsored by SSE and the Seagreen Wind Farm. 

Pupils will work on tasks around skills, pathways, CV and personal statement building and interview tips. They'll also experience a virtual site visit of an offshore wind turbine with SSE and have input from Abertay University and Dundee & Angus College.

The project is delivered via our online learning platform where pupils progress through the project at their own pace, when it suits them. There is no direct involvement from teachers, however we can give you reports on the progress and share the pupil submissions.

The course will be open for 4 weeks from late June through into the start of the holidays in July.  There isn't an exact start date however we're flexible for you and your pupils needs.

Target audience - Educators

Young Enterprise Scotland aims to equip all young people with the skills to thrive in life, learning and work. This course is aimed at all practitioners within Secondary school who wish to develop their confidence in delivering high quality financial education learning experiences. This course will be tailored to meet the needs of the different sectors and will include:

·         What financial education is

·         How it can be embedded successfully across the curriculum

·         Why it is essential to improve financial capability and financial wellbeing

·         What are the tools and resources available to practitioners to support learning?

As an outcome of this session practitioners will be equipped with an increased understanding of the need for financial education across all sectors and the skills to embed it successfully into their practice.
