Virtual Meet The Expert - Orbex - Space industries
Provided by My World of Work Live by Skills Development Scotland
Discover opportunities in the exciting new Space Sector in Scotland. Meet experts Catriona Francis and Alistair Mitchell form Orbex! Experts in launching small satellites into orbit from Scotland
Catriona Francis, Chief of Staff , will tell us how sending a rocket to space involves a big team of people inside and outside the company. Catriona works with people across the company, government and industry and to make sure the team works smoothly together.
Alistair Mitchell, Rocket Engineering Intern, works as part of the UK Space Agency SPINtern programme that supports young people entering the Space sector. As an Intern he gets to work in lots of different departments from hands on rocket production in the factory, to complex computer design in our lab.
Some interesting facts:
1.No rocket has ever been built and launched into orbit from Scotland before
2.Orbex Prime runs on bio-propane - the same fuel you use for barbecues
3.You don't have to be a Rocket Scientist to work at a rocket company!
