Job purpose: This role is designed to support SDS's ambitions to increase the uptake of Modern Apprenticeships, especially among young people from underrepresented groups such as ethnic minorities and individuals with disabilities. Data analytics is about collecting information, looking at it in smart ways, and using it to make better decisions.

What will I learn? With support, you will work alongside team members to understand our data, data governance, systems and storage. This will enable you to learn how data is used for evidence-based decision making, reporting and storytelling across SDS. You will also get hands-on experience with project work, incorporating data engineering, corporate reporting and evidence and impact functions of SDS.

What qualifications or qualities are required? National 5 qualifications in English and Mathematics (minimum grade C or above), or equivalent. We are looking for two motivated candidates who are passionate about data and enjoy working with others. You should have good interpersonal skills, a creative approach to problem-solving, and be confident in sharing your ideas. You should also be organised and have a good level of IT skills, ideally including working with Microsoft programmes and using the web. Most importantly, you must be willing to learn, develop your skills, and have the drive and determination to complete your Modern Apprenticeship. To be eligible for this role, you must be aged 24 or younger on 8 September 2025, in line with the Scottish Government’s initiative on youth employment.
