Course description
This course aims to develop knowledge of providing patient care. You will study professional standards and the psychological and sociological aspects of care. You will gain a good understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the human body and both neurological and physical disease processes.
A work placement will be undertaken.
Entry requirements
Two Highers in academic subjects (English is preferable) at Grade C or above in relevant subject areas or equivalent or successful completion of Access to Nursing course. A qualification in biology, or evidence of study in Anatomy and Physiology, is advantageous.
Selection will be made based on qualifications, a satisfactory personal statement, written exercise, and a reference.
As a placement is involved, you will require a PVG check and a satisfactory reference. It is also expected that you will have good health, wellbeing, and resilience to cope with the demands of care provision.
All applicants will be considered individually.
Progression
Completion may allow progression to 1st year undergraduate nursing degree programmes at university.
There may be an opportunity for 2nd year entry however this will require extra clinical hours in practice and further clinical competencies to be met.
