‘It was a hard choice to decide whether to go to university or do the business.'

When he was leaving school, Sam had already set up his business, but he also had a place at St Andrews University. 

‘In the end I decided to do the business because I enjoyed it and I thought I’d regret it if I didn’t,’ he says.

Sam's company, SAMTEQ, specialises in interactive touch screens and web development..

A lifelong entrepreneur, Sam set up his first business - an online auction site - when he was just 13. He started SAMTEQ in 2008 when he was 16, and at the age of 20, he won the Prince's Trust Youth Business Scotland Regional Business Award for Argyll.

He's now the co-founder of Tickx, a search engine and comparison app for event tickets.

Don't sweat the small stuff

'You've really just got to get on and do it, and meet every challenge as it comes along. If you think about all the challenges you're going to face, you'd probably get scared and not do it'

'If you've got real passion for what you do, I think you'll be successful'
