School offer

We’ve outlined some of the key information below. You can also have a look at our school services table which provides an overview of the help on offer at each stage.

Starting secondary school

  • Careers adviser - Your pupils will have a group session with their school careers adviser to touch on some of the big decisions they’ll face in the years ahead. Look out for our S1 magazine which introduces careers help in school
  • My World of Work - The About Me tool will give your pupils the chance to see which jobs are suited to their interests

Making subject choices in S2/S3

  • Careers adviser - Your pupils will have both group sessions and a one-to one session around making informed subject choices. Look out for the subject choices magazine which includes an action plan to help make decisions
  • My World of Work - The strengths tool gives your pupils the chance to discover what they’re good at and how this relates to different jobs. You can try the strengths activity in class. There' also a subject choices tool. Your pupils can type in up to six subjects and the tool finds what career these subjects would be useful for

Leaving school

  • Careers adviser - There will be a series of interactive group activities with their careers adviser to help think about their future career and options. Careers advisers are also available for drop-in appointments throughout the year.
  • Careers events - There's a variety of careers events including HE Exhibitions, Skills Scotland and the Scottish Apprenticeship Show
  • My World of Work - The Learn and Train and Getting a Job sections have both course and job searches. There are also lots of advice articles depending on the route your pupils choose to take and a CV builder tool too. Have a look at the teacher resources for activities to do in class
