You might have heard about Foundation Apprenticeships, but how much do you know about them?

1. It's a new way of learning

In S5 or S6, you can do a Foundation Apprenticeship as one of your senior subject choices. You'll get the chance to learn in a real workplace and develop the new skills your future employers need, giving you a competitive edge while you're still at school. 

2. You'll study along with your other subjects

It’s an integrated part of your school timetable in S5 or S6, and so fits alongside your other subject choices. You'll work towards your qualification at a local college or learning provider, and get time out of school to find out what it’s like to work in a real job with some of Scotland's biggest and best employers.

3. You'll get a qualification, the same level as a Higher

You'll work towards a qualification which is the same level as a Higher (SCQF level 6) and is part of your pathway to university, college, a Modern or Graduate Apprenticeship, or straight to work.

4. It's a unique chance to get a taste of the world of work 

When you're at school, it can be hard to imagine what working life is really like. Whether you're sure of what you want to do, or you have no idea, a Foundation Apprenticeship gives you the chance to try out a career to see if it's for you. With twelve subjects available, ranging from Creative and Digital Media to Engineering, there's something to suit every interest.
