The energy sector is a large and important part of the Scottish economy, accounting for over a quarter of economic output

There are approximately 125,000 people employed directly in the energy sector in Scotland

There are currently 6,000 graduates and 13,000 apprentices employed in the Oil & Gas sector across the UK

11,695 people are employed full-time in the renewables industry in Scotland

The future

The Scottish Government hopes to generate 100% of electricity from renewable sources by 2020

Over 15,000 new recruits may be needed by the Grid and Transmission sector across the UK by 2022/23

£75bn is required to deliver the planned programme of nuclear decommissioning across the UK, bringing opportunities in areas such as, engineering, fabrication, construction, and waste management
