Introduction to The UK Asbestos Industry

Target audience - Secondary S4 to S6 (14-18 year old)
Classroom-based course consisting of a single 1 Hour session. This would be an information presentation, designed as a way of introducing delegates to the UK Asbestos Industry. The course would provide information on: o The types and properties of asbestos minerals o The risks to and effects of health caused by exposure to asbestos o Outline of the origins of asbestos legislation and how it fits into the wider context of health and safety legislation o The structure of the UK Asbestos Industry o Careers, Roles & Opportunities within the UK Asbestos Industry No assessment will take place. Each delegate will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Scotland Women in Technology’s 2018 Role Model Roadshow

Target audience - Secondary S1 to S3 (11-14 year old), Secondary S4 to S6 (14-18 year old), College
At the 2017 Scotland Women in Technology Awards the organisation pledged to bring industry and education closer together. In order to do so, the organisation behind the awards, Scotland Women in Technology has created the Role Model Roadshow. The roadshow will bring finalists and winners from the awards to schools to talk about the career opportunities in technology to conduct talks and workshops. These sessions are open to all children in secondary schools.

RM-EAT/Commando Chef

Target audience - Secondary S4 to S6 (14-18 year old), College
Royal Marines Educational Awareness Team are running two interactive virtual workshops for young people aged 14+. Both of these workshops are relating to the catering industry within the Royal Navy.

Workshop 1 - Within this workshop young people will receive a presentation covering a range of information such as food and nutrition advice, career opportunities, sugar in energy drinks, life story and finishing the workshop with a Q&A.

Workshop 2 – Young people in this workshop will undertake cooking from the presenters' guidance and instructions. Prior to this workshop, you will receive a list of ingredients and equipment to source and get ready. You will also receive handy hints to make sure your dish turns out correct and improve on various skills along the way! Within this workshop, you will hear about careers and have the opportunity to ask any questions.

Each workshop will take place via ZOOM and will last approximately 35 mins due to ZOOM time constraints.

This opportunity is run throughout the year to any region across Scotland.

The #CMSBuildingBetterFutures Hub, an online resource aimed at young people in secondary school education. The Hub provides insights into CMS, the workings of the legal industry, and some of the many different roles that make up a commercial law firm. There are also resources to support young people to develop the key skills required for further education and the world of work.
