Railway Engineering City and Guilds SCQF Level 5 will give you an introduction to the railway industry and prepare you for a career in railway engineering. The course lasts 18 weeks with the first two weeks based at Edinburgh College’s Granton campus. You will then go to our shore site where you will work on our simulated track for 12 weeks and undertake practical training including Personal Track Safety (PTS) and Track Induction Course (TIC). If you`re looking to pursue a career in a health profession which is both challenging and rewarding then this course is for you. You may be a school leaver who as yet, does not have the required entry qualifications to go direct to University. The course is a fulltime course where you will be given the necessary education to make an application through UCAS to progress onto the first year of a Nursing degree or onto HNC Healthcare Practice which could lead to an Allied Health Profession related degree.

We are delivering this new course at our Granton Campus for people who are considering careers in working in the community with young people or in adult education.   This is a taster part- time course running on Wednesdays 10am - 2.15pm and Thursdays 9.30am - 12.30pm.

The course is aimed at people who may already be volunteering in their community and would like to progress into employment in this area of work or  people who might be looking for a career change or for those who are just interested in finding out a bit more about community/youth work.
