Course description

Upon successful completion of end tests, including a CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test, delegates are awarded a CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) Trained Operator Card (Red), valid for 2 years. The course will enable delegates to: - Operate machine safely & correctly in accordance with manufacturer's instructions & accepted good practice - Use ancillary attachments - Carry out a pre-shift inspection - Operate safely under varying site conditions - Load and unload machine off a transporter - Carry out minor adjustments and routine service - Understand the responsibilities under current relevant legislation The course will cover the following: - HSWA - PUWER - LOLER - Road Traffic Act - Other current relevant regulations - Driving, loading and unloading onto a transporter - Introduction to machine - Pre-shift inspections - Controls and instruments - Maintenance, transport, handling and storage - Coolant, fuel and lubrication - Trenching, backfilling, levelling and marking out - Deep and shallow excavations
