Course description
Upon successful completion of the end tests, this forklift course leads to the candidate being registered on RTITB's National Operator Registration Scheme (RTITB/NORS) and the issue of a nationally recognised Certificate and Card valid for 3 years on the Counterbalance Lift Truck. The objectives of the course are to enable delegates to: - Operate the forklift safely and correctly in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and accepted good practice - Use ancillary attachments - Carry out a pre-shift inspection of the forklift - Be able to load and unload vehicles - Understand the causes of instability of truck and load - Have an understanding of responsibilities under HSWA & other current relevant legislation Course Summary - H.S.W.A. - P.U.W.E.R. - L.O.L.E.R. - Other current relevant regulations - Driving, loading and unloading - Introduction to forklift - Controls and instruments - Limitations of use - Weight assessment - Fork truck stability - ACOP for Rider Operated Lift Trucks: Operator Training - Regulations, standards and exemptions - Components and main type of lift trucks - Maintenance, service, transport, handling & storage - Re-fuelling systems - Pre-shift inspection - Coolant, fuel and lubrication - Emergency controls - Driving on/off ramps - Operator safety code - Handling loaded/unloaded pallets. - Handling difficult shaped loads - Working within a Racking System - Bulk Stacking
Entry requirements
