Course description
This course is delivered by Sunny Govan Community Radio team giving learners a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience with Sunny Govan Community Radio Station serving Glasgow for over 20+ years. With the expansion of digital broadcasting, there is an increasing number of jobs available in radio, including Podcasting and Vodcasting in addition to more traditional programming. As well as learning about radio broadcasting you will get an introduction to DJing using professional DJ decks and equipment to create mixes and new music. The course will give learners how to prepare and broadcast a live radio show. It will also emphasise skills on improved communication, listening, researching and working in a team environment, developing confidence and self esteem using IT and Social Media - bridging the gap in the digital world. The course will deliver skills which are transferable in future employment and training opportunities. Learners will also have a broad-ranging skill set which will enable them to run and promote their own podcast or online shows. What you will learn: Radio Presentation Researching and Scripting Radio Music Programme Production Radio Interviewing Copyright and Law Technical Operations, Recording and Editing Learning outcome This introductory course leads into Creative Industries: DJing and further education media courses. Learners can look towards a career in the media after completing this course and it will provide a stepping stone towards radio and television careers as well as future employment opportunities in industry, customer service and hospitality.
