Under the Private Security Industry Authority Act 2001, all individuals wishing to work in the private security industry must undertake a recognised qualification before applying for a licence. The HABC Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry (Scotland) at SCQF Level 6 has been developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA). It is based on the relevant SIA Specifications for Learning and Qualifications and provides the necessary skills and knowledge for learners who wish to apply for an SIA licence and work as a door supervisor within the private security industry. WHAT DOES THIS COURSE COVER Subjects covered include behavioural standards, legislation relevant to the role, search procedures, powers of arrest, recording incidents and crime scene preservation, avoiding conflict and reducing personal risk, conflict management, reducing risk and communicating effectively. The qualification comprises four mandatory units: - Unit 1 - Working within the private security industry - Unit 2 - Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry - Unit 3 - Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry - Unit 4 - Physical Intervention Skills within the Private Security Industry ASSESSMENT Working within the Private Security Industry This unit will be assessed by a multiple choice question paper consisting of 72 questions. The examination will last for 110 minutes and learners will be required to correctly answer 50 of the 72 questions in order to pass. 70% pass mark. Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry Assessment of this unit will be by a multiple choice question paper containing 50 questions. The examination will last for 75 minutes and learners will be required to correctly answer 35 of the 50 questions in order to pass. 70% pass mark. Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry This unit will be assessed by a multiple choice question paper containing a minimum of 20 questions. The examination will last for 30 minutes and learners will be required to correctly answer 14 of the 20 questions to pass. 70% pass mark. Physical Intervention Skills within the Private Security Industry This unit is assessed in two parts. Part one is a practical test and part two will be assessed by a multiple choice question paper containing a minimum of 30 questions. The examination will last for 45 minutes and learners will be required to correctly answer 24 questions to pass. 80% pass mark. Entry requirements

MUST HAVE A VALID FIRST AID CERTIFICATE BEFORE STARTING TRAINING ( THIS CAN BE COMPLETED AS PART OF YOUR TRAINING) No formal qualification is required for this course but candidates have to be 18+ Security Operatives in the course of their work are likely to be required to make calls to the Emergency Services, or need to communicate to resolve conflict. Therefore it is essential that security operatives are able to communicate clearly, so Basic English skills are necessary.
