The REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene is designed give learners a basic knowledge and understanding of the causes of food poisoning, measures for prevention and the legal aspects of food hygiene in Scotland. Upon completion learners will understand: • Bacteria and their characteristics • The incidence of food poisoning and its prevention • Personal hygiene and working habits of the food handler • The working environment • Common food pests and their control • Cleaning practices • HACCP • Food legislation This course is great for anyone working within a food handling environment including catering/licensed trade food production and processing industries and also those in caring and voluntary situations involving food preparation or handling. This is a generic personal development course aimed at low-income individuals looking to progress within their employment.
