Course description
This one day course is necessary for anyone wishing to apply for the Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) Labourer Card (Green Card), necessary to work on a UK construction site. Last year, in the UK, 42 of the 133 workplace fatalities occurred in construction. The Elementary Health & Safety Certificate (accredited by The Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS), in addition to the the CITB online exam will provide you with the health and safety knowledge required for construction site entry, when both are completed you will qualify for the operative (labourer) green card for site entry. The vast majority of UK construction firms will not allow site entry without this. A Tutor will support you to achieve this throughout this online interactive course and guided learning. Topics Covered: Health & Safety Legislation, Accidents and Ill-health, Slips & Trips, Health & Safety Law, Risk Assessment, Hazardous Substances, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) , Workplace Health, Safety & Welfare , Vehicles at Work , Electricity , Fire , First Aid, Plant, Machinery & Equipment, Electricity at Work , Occupational Health , Manual Handling, Working at Heights. Method of delivery and assessment The 1 day course will be delivered online by a Tutor (due to COVID-19), therefore you will require access to a technical device and an internet connection. The course is designed to give candidates an accepted level of competency in Health and Safety. You are expected to be interactive during training with the tutor and will be required to successfully complete a multiple-choice invigilated exam at the end of the course. Once you have passed the REHIS Health & Safety Certificate our centre will book your CITB test for an alternative date. Our experienced Tutor will provide you with guided learning in order to pass the test. Once you have passed the CITB test our centre will order your CSCS card. The full course is inclusive of costs (REHIS Health & Safety Certification, CITB Test & CSCS Card).
Entry requirements
There are no specific skills, knowledge, understanding or any other qualifications that must be achieved in order to start this qualification, however learners must have the potential and willingness to learn to gain this qualification successfully. IMPORTANT - Candidates must have a laptop/computer or tablet to complete this online course. We will check equipment with the candidate prior to attending the course to ensure it is suitable to fully participate.
