Course description

The four day course consists of one day threading, two days of waxing treatments, and one day looking more in depth at intimate waxing. The candidate will learn how to communicate and interact effectively with the client and recognise contra-indications and restrictions to treatments. It is also essential that they can prepare and position the client to ensure comfort, privacy and safety. It is essential that the relevant aspects of the current Health and Safety legislation are explained and that underpinning knowledge is given, as well as adhered to as part of this unit. The course content for the Diploma in Advanced Hair Removal is: Waxing Treatments Course content: Identify the hair follicle and hair growth cycle Contra-indications and contra-actions Special care conditions Plan and prepare for treatment Waxing procedure Treatment evaluation Homecare and aftercare Health and Safety Underpinning knowledge Threading Course content: History of techniques Client consultation Contra-indications and contra-actions to treatments Various threading techniques Threading procedure Treatment evaluation Homecare and aftercare Health and Safety Underpinning knowledge Intimate Waxing Course content: Consultation Analyse Selection of products and systems Develop skills in Playboy waxing techniques Develop skills in Brazilian waxing techniques Develop skills in Hollywood waxing techniques Health and Safety Underpinning knowledge Where applicable, cross assessment will be used to avoid duplication. All work is internally and externally verified by SQA. Entry to the course is not an automatic pass. Students not reaching a satisfactory standard by the end of the course will be given additional remediation and re assessment at no additional cost.
