Course description

This course is suitable for candidates who are interested in the management functions of administration and advanced uses of digital technology, and who want to develop these skills further.  This course helps candidates to develop advanced administration skills and digital literacy relevant to the world of work and to be aware of current legislation and the importance of customer care. Candidates will develop the ability to use a range of advanced software application functions covering: word processing, spreadsheets, database and emerging technologies.This course is suitable for school leavers or other young people looking for employment in an administrative field; it may also be attractive if you are a mature student wishing to change career direction or return to part time study.Administrative theory and practice In this unit, learners develop their understanding of the factors contributing to an efficient administrative function. This includes time and task management, effective teams, complying with workplace legislation, the impact of digital technologies, and customer care.  IT Solutions for AdministratorsIn this unit, learners develop skills in organising and managing information using digital technology in administrative contexts. They will use software applications to manage, edit and create business documents.  Communication in AdministrationIn this unit candidates will learn how to overcome barriers and develop effective ways of communicating to meet the needs of their audience.   They will also develop skills, knowledge and understanding of how to maintain the security and confidentiality of information.
