Barry is headteacher of Perth Grammar School, a secondary school with around 1,000 pupils.

‘It’s a rewarding job with great holidays. But much more about the reward of working with so many different people and watching them develop and turn out to be fine young people as they move into the world of work is very enjoyable ,’ he says.

He had different jobs in hotels, including roles as a lifeguard and in business development.

Starting his career as in education as PE teacher, he became a guidance teacher before moving into a depute headteacher role and becoming a headteacher.
