Suggested activities

  • Discuss what you can do when you leave school e.g. Modern Apprenticeships, college, university, employment
  • Prepare for visits/world of workday by discussing the purpose and by becoming familiar with the appropriate questionnaire. Additional questions should be added as required
  • Discuss specific Health and Safety requirements
  • Young people to complete relevant questionnaire with employers, training providers, colleges, universities. Online resources can also be used to gather information where visits do not take place e.g. employer or college website, My World of Work
  • Knowledge gained to be shared by reporting back orally or through written reports using diagrams, photographs etc

  • This lesson could be built into a World of Work Week
  • Thank you letters should be written to visitors/hosts
  • Pupils can go to and use their profile to record what skills they have used taking part in this lesson
