Careers A-Z allows you to explore careers that interest you and learn more about them.
The database, which is provided by Continuing Education Gateway (PlanIT Plus), offers lots of useful information.
When searching for a career using the Careers A-Z you have three options -
- Search using a keyword/phrase - This allows you to carry out a specific search if you know exactly what job you are looking for.
- Search by industry e.g. Medical, Counselling - Using this search will provide a wider range of careers within a certain industry, for example Manufacturing. This may be useful if you have a broad qualification range or experience and want to see the different careers that are available to you or if you know what industry you want to work in but don’t have a specific job preference yet.
- Search by selecting a letter from A-Z - By searching this way you will be able to look at careers that begin with that specified letter e.g. clicking on ‘A’ pulls results such as Artist, Advertising Copywriter or Advocate. This can be a great way to browse the database of jobs.
Once you select a career match other information is displayed including Industry, Requirements and Videos.
From here you can select ‘further information about this career’, which goes into more detail about the industry.
Guidance is offered here about what the selected industry has to offer and what personal requirements are needed to get a job. Under the Addresses section you will find many links to useful websites, email addresses and contact information for organisations within the industry.
